Casey was born in Inglewood, California. He began to study Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 1999 when he befriended Rockson Gracie, son of Rickson Gracie. Casey made his professional mixed martial arts debut in September 2007 for the K-1 Hero's promotion in Japan.
Casey is a supporter of CHAMP, a non-profit organization founded by his brother Keith Casey that works to build the minds and bodies of inner city youth through mixed martial arts.
Casey once promoted himself to Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu. He was banned from the school by Kron Gracie the son of Rickson Gracie because of his attempt at self promotion. After a brief conflict both reconciled and Casey returned back under the instruction of Rickson Gracie as a brown belt. In September, 2010, Casey was promoted to black belt by Kron / Rickson Gracie.
Casey made his Strikeforce second appearance on May 21, 2010. He lost to Matt Lindland via TKO in the third round. Casey is now training for his Strikeforce return fight.
